It looks ugly, but it is actually a relatively pretty piece! Lepidolite-3M Ð a monoclinic Lepidolite with a three-layered molecular structure Ð is one of the rare stacking patterns. This specimen was found by yours truly near a deep, dark pond, deep in the forest at Skuleboda (Väne Ryr, Sweden). Ex coll. Claus Hedegaard. |

Dense aggregates of Lepidolite flakes are cutable. They not easy to cut but do produce interesting cabochons. This is the most common structure type of Lepidolite, Lepidolite-3T Ð triclinic Lepidolite with a three-layered molecular structure. The specimen was collected in the farm Davib-Ost at Karibib (Erongo Region, Namibia). Ex coll. Claus Hedegaard. |

The fine-grained, whitish material inside the green Tourmaline crystals is Lepidolite, formed as an alteration of the Tourmaline. Tourmaline often has microscopic tubes running parallel to the crystal axis. This gives access to external fluids and the Tourmaline appears to be altered Õfrom insideÕ. This specimen was collected in a pegmatite in Uiswater, North of Uis in Namibia. Ex coll. Claus Hedegaard. |
