Photos from Kaveltorp

Kaveltorp is an old copper mine in Kopparberg [means 'copper mountain' but refers to another mine] with interesting skarn mineralisations carrying a.o., dodecahedral Magnetite xx, pyroxenes, and interesting skarn minerals. Note, that everything with copper is exceedingly rare on the dump!

The Danish mineral collector, Anker Svendsen, inserted for scale in front of the Kaveltorp adit.

Close-up of the Kaveltorp adits, connecting to each other 10-15 meter inside. The underground workings are flooded and the accessible parts do not show anything particularly interesting, that can not be collected more easily on the dump.

View of the Kaveltorp pit from above. The previous two photographs face the opposite direction, towards the wall of the pit immediately below. The town of Kopparberg is on the other side of the hill, behind the trees.
