Photos from Båtberget, Sweden

The forest around Båtberget near Ställdalen in Sweden is home to numerous Quartz lenses, a few of which carry brownish/reddish/purplish Andalusite. Some of them have been 'opened' up, probably for exploration, and now form pits a few meter long. One of these pits carries quite attractive Andalusite crystals imbedded in Quartz.

The landscape is typical Swedish forest, pines and shrub, occassional boulders sticking out.

Yours truly, deeply involved in securing specimens in a small pit
