Photo from Gem Mine

Gem Mine in San Benito Co., California is known as a prolific source of Benitoite, Joaquinite-(Ce), Jonesite, Neptunite and a few other interesting critters. I am not sure about its current status, but a few years ago it used to be operated for Benitoite for cutting material. On our way back, I could not help stopping by to look around. I just HAD to photograph this piece, and no I did not bring it home! The brown Neptunite crystals are not less than 5 cm long, and you would have needed heavy equipment to transport the boulder ... even to transport the interesting corner.
